Qin’s work on the surface relaxation mechanisms of soft solids has just been published in Physical Review Letters.
by
Andrea Testa
With the help of a home-built interference microscope, the work directly measures the de-wetting induced surface relaxations on soft silicone gels. The paper shows the experimental evidence to distinguish poroelasticity from viscoelasticity by investigating the dynamics at different time and length scales.
